ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP
The Free School Community Grade 7–13 Tuition Assistance Scholarship was established by the Free School Community Children & Family Foundation, Inc. to support and encourage students who are committed to pursuing their educational goals.
Through this scholarship, the Foundation seeks to reduce financial barriers, recognize academic achievement, and inspire young people to become future leaders who make meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
The scholarship provides full or partial tuition assistance to eligible students enrolled in or accepted for Grades 7 through 13 at a participating educational institution. Tutoring services may also be provided to support the recipient’s academic progress and help the student maintain the required performance standards.
Education creates opportunity, strengthens confidence, and helps shape a brighter future. By investing in education, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to empowering young people and creating opportunities that can benefit families and communities for generations to come.
Scholarship funds are restricted to approved tuition expenses and are paid directly to the educational institution. No cash payment will be made to the student, parent, guardian, or family.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet all the following eligibility requirements:
Applicants must be ages 11–18
Enrolled in or accepted for Grade 7 through Grade 13 at a participating institution
Demonstrate financial need and commitment to education
Maintain satisfactory attendance with a recommended minimum of 90% unless absences are excused
Demonstrate good conduct
Make satisfactory academic progress
Maintain an overall grade of B or above
Comply with scholarship and school policies
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit the following:
1. Completed Online Scholarship Application
A parent or legal guardian must complete or approve the online application through the Foundation’s website. All required sections must be completed accurately.
2. Proof of Age
Submit a clear copy of the applicant’s birth certificate, passport, government-issued identification, or another official document showing the applicant’s date of birth.
3. Proof of Enrollment or Acceptance
Provide a current enrollment verification letter, acceptance letter, registration document, or other official confirmation from the participating educational institution.
4. Proof of Household Income or Financial Hardship
Provide documents that reasonably demonstrate the household’s financial circumstances. Supporting documents may include:
• Employment letter or recent pay statements.
• Proof of unemployment or loss of income.
• Government assistance documentation.
• Pension or benefit statement.
• Written statement explaining the household’s financial hardship.
• Documentation relating to extraordinary family circumstances.
The Foundation may request additional information when necessary to assess financial need.
5. Most Recent Report Card
Submit the applicant’s most recent report card, progress report, academic transcript, or other official academic record.
6. Attendance and Conduct Report
Provide an attendance and behavior report from the educational institution, when available.
The report should indicate the applicant’s attendance record, conduct, and compliance with school rules.
7. Tuition Statement
Provide a current tuition invoice, fee statement, or other official document showing:
• The student’s name.
• The educational institution’s name.
• The applicable academic year or school term.
• The tuition amount due.
• The institution’s payment information.
8. Applicant Statement or Essay
Submit an original statement or essay of approximately 300 to 500 words addressing:
• The applicant’s educational and career goals.
• Why education is important to the applicant.
• How financial hardship has affected the applicant’s education.
• How the scholarship would support the applicant’s goals.
• How the applicant hopes to contribute positively to their family or community.
The statement should reflect the applicant’s own experiences, ideas, and voice.
9. Parent or Guardian Consent
The applicant’s parent or legal guardian must authorize participation in the scholarship process and permit the Foundation to verify the submitted information.
10. Applicant and Parent Certification
The applicant and parent or guardian must certify that all submitted information and documents are accurate, complete, and authentic.
False, incomplete, or misleading information may result in disqualification, withdrawal of the scholarship, or termination of continued assistance.
11. Additional Documents
The Foundation may request additional documents or information necessary to evaluate eligibility, financial need, academic progress, attendance, conduct, or tuition expenses.
